About This Game Whispers of a Machine is a Sci-Fi Nordic Noir that tells the story of Vera, a cybernetically augmented special agent tasked with investigating a string of murders. These brutal killings obscure a sinister truth, as Vera soon finds ties to a group of fanatics committed to creating an AI superintelligence — a pursuit outlawed for nearly a century. Complicating things, a great loss from Vera's past comes back to haunt her, making her question her own sanity and everything she stands for.As an agent of the Central Bureau, Vera is equipped with an advanced nano-substance called Blue. This rare and sought-after technology allows her to develop superhuman abilities adapted to her psychological mindset. In this emotionally gripping story with existential twists and multiple endings, Vera's actions will have monumental consequences not only for herself, but for all of humanity...INVESTIGATION, AUGMENTED: Will Vera approach situations with a more empathetic, analytical, or assertive style? The notebook is a fantastic tool, it keeps track of topics and people you've learned about, and then you can cross reference those with everyone you meet. You also unlock different tools depending on your play style; whether you're assertive, analytical or empathetic. My first time playing, I was empathetic, so I unlocked new tricks to do with changing peoples minds and convincing them. It gives the game some replayability, as there are puzzles and conversations unique to each path.If I had to criticise the game, I would say it's length is an issue. Took me 5.6 hours to finish my first run, but I got stuck for maybe 30-45 minutes, and let the game idle for ~30 minutes while I ate dinner, so let's say it takes around 4.5 hours to finish if you're smarter than me and don't stop for a break. It feels like the ending really sneaks up on you, like one minute you think you're just starting to unravel some insidious plot involving rival religious groups and then it's over. I would've liked a little more time to let the plot breathe and let us really consider the consequences of our actions. I would also like to see more environments, because when compared to Kathy Rain, Clifftop's previous game, it feels a little lacking in that department. But these are minor complaints for what, in my opinion, is an excellent point n' click adventure game, with an engrossing atmosphere set in a unique wold. Voice acting is great, dialogue is well written, didn't notice any spelling or grammatical errors, or discrepancies between what was being spoken vs. what the subtitles said. Despite the ending being a bit of a let down, I'd still recommend this game.. Great game with an excellent mood. The writing is sweet in how subtle it is. Dialogues never feel stilted, and the segues of conversational tones among your different dialogue options is smooth.I love the setting, and I could see myself following Vera along more mysteries in the same world like a procedural crime drama. If you're already an aficionado of this genre and style of games, it can't be left out of your collection.. I like the game. It is a complex story presented almost perfectly. I have an issue with the premise of the game, but that has nothing to do with its playability. The story, the dialog, the procession of knowledge throughout the game is excellent. There is virtually no time spent wondering about what you should be doing. Many want to compare this to Kathy Rain. I thought Kathy Rain was confusing. Whispers of a Machine is never confusing. I have played through it 4 times now, but haven't reached 100% Achievements. I will before I am satisfied. I don't say that about most games. Definitely recommended.. This was an interesting adventure game, albeit short. The story was good, and there's some replay value in it due to character development; basically giving different answers next time and getting access to different skills.Good fun for 5 hours.. WOM is a great quest, which has an advantages and disadvantages.Adv:1)Intresting storyline which starts with a simple crime at first look, but goes to unexpected way.2)The game world has it's own "lore" which let you dive more in main storyline.3)Features of cyberpunk.Dis:Just 1 for me: Sometimes I have to read a walkthrough guide to solve some puzzles (about 3 times).I can recommend WOM to:1) All who like quests, you must play it.2)All who like intresting stories like me, and you don't care about the genre of games.Great thanks to developers!. Wonderful game. Great story.. amazing amazing amazing. Wow really epic stuff. Great story and voice acting! Good puzzles, they were not very challenging for us (we were two people) but perhaps could have been in solo play. A really good game and well worth the price.. I grew up on games like Kings Quest and have always enjoyed a good point and click game. It seems that quite a few of these types of games have been coming out recently and a lot of them are high quality. If you have played Primordia, Unforseen Incidents, and other newer offerings to this genre this game continues the trend of excellency. The important things you want to know-The puzzles are great. No ridiculous logic leaps needed and you are rewarded for having a keen eye to detail. Very thoughtful puzzle design. -The voice acing is excellent. The characters all have a unique personality which helps to create a world that is interesting to explore. I haven't found myself skipping through conversations and this also comes back to the previous point. -The animations are just right. Really fits the genre quite well and hits a bit of nostalgia for me. If you're looking for a fun point and click game, and one that doesn't allow you to get frustrated I highly recommend Whispers of a Machine. I've been playing point and click adventure games for years and this one has already slotted itself in as a favorite of mine.. really good story.I enjoyed every moment.
